Game Rules

As with other blackjack games at PokerStars Casino, the core mechanics of Micro Blackjack will be familiar to those who have played the game before, but there are slight differences. Tables use six 52-card decks, which are shuffled together before each hand is dealt. And unlike other blackjack variants, dealers do not receive a hole card.

If the dealer is showing a soft 17 (a hand containing an ace that totals either seven or 17), they must hit in Micro Blackjack. If the player’s hand loses to blackjack, then only the mandatory initial bet is forfeited and all other optional bets that have not bust (splits and doubles) will be pushed and returned.

Player Betting Options

More betting options become available as hands progress on Micro Blackjack tables. Firstly, players can double down on any 9, 10 or 11 valued hand. That means you can double your initial bet, so long as you commit to ‘stand’ after receiving one additional card from the dealer.

Dealt king-jack, or a pair of tens? Any time you are dealt two cards that are paired or of equal value, you can choose to split. Splitting creates two hands for an additional wager of the same amount. Here are some additional rules on splitting:

  • Players can split once for two hands in total
  • Aces may be split only once. Players will then receive just one card on each split hand
  • Players can double down (see above) on any on any 9, 10 or 11 valued hand, including after a non-ace split

Insurance and Surrender

Contrary to other blackjack variants like Surrender Blackjack, players are not allowed to ‘surrender’ on Micro Blackjack tables. But if you think the dealer is about to hit blackjack, you can buy ‘insurance’. This means should the dealer hit blackjack, you’ll still be paid 2:1 on your bet.

The theoretical return to player (RTP) for Micro Blackjack is 99.29%. For more on how to play the game, visit our Blackjack Rules page.
