As the winner of the first-ever PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC), high-roller Ramón Colillas added his name to history as well as to the ranks of PokerStars Team Pro.
With a fierce competitive streak and determination to improve, as a youth Ramón dreamt of playing professional football in his native Spain. A series of injuries curtailed his chances, but his time in football did see him discover poker through games against his teammates. After completing a degree in sports science and a spell as a fitness instructor, he turned his passion for competition into a successful career at the online poker tables.
A string of notable tournament victories followed, with Ramón recording wins in almost all the regular tourneys available at PokerStars.es. He made his way to the live tournament circuit and, in 2018, managed to win a Platinum Pass that took him all the way to the PSPC in The Bahamas. Facing many of the world’s best players in a US$25,000 buy-in tournament brought out the best in Ramón, and he emerged victorious with first place and a huge US$5,100,000, the biggest payday of his career.
Online and off, Ramón specialises in Hold’em tournament play. He won his first Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title in May 2022, just weeks after making a first European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event final table in Monte Carlo. Six months earlier, he had even made a deep run in the Main Event of the World Series, finishing 14th for US$380,000.
In his role as a member of PokerStars Team Pro he’s keen to continue to make live scores, learn more about Omaha and some of the other variants, and to show people how far hard work and dedication can take you.
Ramón Colillas plays online poker exclusively at PokerStars, where he plays under the username ‘RamonColillas’.
